Hello! Bonjour! Taanishi! Alyssa niiya!
I’m Alyssa Delbaere-Sawchuk, a Métis fiddler, cultural educator, and recording artist dedicated to sharing the living traditions of the Red River Métis Nation. Through performances, workshops, and creative collaborations, I bring authentic Métis stories and sounds to audiences across the world — blending artistry, education, and heart.

My Fiddle: Weaving Song, Heritage, Connection.

My Métis family names are Nault and Recette, from the historic communities of St Pierre Jolys and Saint Boniface. This deep personal connection to Métis heritage, combined with dedicated mentorship and study, is the foundation of my work in cultural education and music. I am committed to sharing the richness of Métis heritage with integrity.

Gifts of the Ancestors — Kaa Miikooshiyaak
What’s Given to Us
Rooted in Métis fiddle traditions from across the Prairies, Gifts of the Ancestors honours the melodies and teachings passed through generations. Each tune is an offering — a way of saying thank you to the ancestors, mentors, and communities who keep the music alive. Representing the Red River Métis Nation, this album weaves traditional fiddle tunes into original arrangements that reflect the living heartbeat of Métis culture. The songs draw from community archives, family lineages, and the teachings of master fiddlers across the Prairie Homelands, celebrating the resilience and beauty of a people whose stories continue to dance through the music.
Featuring Danton Delbaere-Sawchuk on guitar and cello, Forrest Eaglespeaker on guitar, Don Sawchuk on guitar, James Steele on violin and Ryan Shutton on mandolin.
